American Airlines on Jan. 1, 2026, will change the qualification window and earning guidelines of its AAdvantage Business corporate loyalty program, which it introduced in October 2023, the carrier announced Friday.
Beginning in January, companies will qualify for redemption benefits on a calendar-year basis. Once a company qualifies, these benefits remain active through the end of the current calendar year and the entire following year. Currently, the qualification for redemption of benefits is based on a rolling 12-month period. Companies that qualify for mileage redemption benefits based on 2025 activity will have redemption benefits through the end of 2026. To maintain redemption benefits in 2027, the company will need to hit program qualification minimum requirements in 2026.
The second change is that every dollar spent on eligible employee travel will count toward unlocking a business' redemption benefits. This will include spend for nonregistered travelers, according to American, meaning the traveler will not need to be an AAdvantage member or a registered traveler with the company's AAdvantage Business account.
American in July added the AAdvantage Business Select tier to the program.
