American Airlines on Dec. 1 raised the price of its first checked-bag fees for Canada and short-haul international flights, according to the carrier's website, bringing it in line with fees on U.S. routes.
For travel to and from Canada, the Caribbean (except Cuba and Haiti), Mexico, Central America (except Panama) and Guyana, the first checked-bag fee is $40, or $35 if paid online, up $5 from the prior fees. The increase brings these routes in line with the checked-bag fees charged for U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands flights, which increased in 2024.
