American Airlines has developed an Official Source designation for third-party sources that use flight operations data directly from American or from "sources that American trusts to redistribute its data," according to the carrier. FlightStats and OAG, which own the FlightView tracking site, are the first two to earn the designation. American plans to give the designation to additional flight status data sources in the future.
