American Airlines and Alaska Airlines are scaling back their
partnership. Their reciprocal loyalty program benefits will largely end as of
March 1, 2020. Alaska Mileage Plan members no longer will earn miles on
American Airlines international flights, and they will not be able to redeem
their miles for reward travel on American Airlines. They still will earn miles
on American flights through a codesharing relationship between the carriers that
applies to some domestic flights and routes to Canada. Alaska Lounge members still
will have access to American's Admiral Club lounges when flying with Alaska or
American. Similarly, AAdvantage members no longer will earn miles on Alaska
flights outside of codeshare flights and will not be able to redeem their miles
for Alaska flights. Admirals Club members still will have access to Alaska
lounges when flying on one of the two carriers.
