Alaska Airlines in March delivered 87.9 percent of its
domestic flights to the gate within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival times, the
top figure among major North American carriers, according to FlightStats. Delta
Air Lines, which had more than five times as many flights in March as Alaska,
was the second-most punctual domestic carrier, with 86 percent of flights on
time.
On average, the 12 largest major North American airlines
delivered passengers to the gate on time on 81.9 percent of flights. In
addition to Alaska and Delta, WestJet (84.6 percent) and Southwest Airlines
(81.9 percent) performed better than that average, while American Airlines
(81.2 percent), United Airlines (81.1 percent), Frontier Airlines (80.8
percent), Air Canada (79.8 percent), JetBlue Airways (76.8 percent), Virgin
America (75.1 percent), Spirit Airlines (65.1 percent) and Allegiant Air (57.4
percent) performed worse than the monthly average.
