Air New Zealand is set to launch in November its economy-class Skynest full-length sleeping pods on its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the Auckland-New York JFK route, the carrier announced Tuesday. Tickets for the pods will be available from May 18.
The airline initially announced the Skynest pods in 2022 and had planned to debut them in September 2024.
The pods, located between Premium Economy and Economy, will be available in four-hour sessions and are priced from $495 per person.
The new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner also will offer upgraded premium features, including new Business Premier Luxe seats with a fully closing door and ottoman for guests, and new Premium Economy seats with a fixed outer shell. Premium Economy and Economy passengers also will have access to a self-service snack area.
