CWT will avail itself of the global distribution content and technology of Amadeus and Sabre via a multiyear contract renewal with each global distribution system operator/tech company.
The deals seem predicated on technology. Amadeus business travel channels EVP Rajiv Rajian said, "Travelers today are looking for consistency, transparency and choice, and the right technology is key to meeting these needs." Sabre said its deal "broadens their long-standing business partnership and deepens the companies' close collaboration on technological innovations being developed for mutual growth and success." Sabre Travel Network president Wade Jones added, "We are completing our technology evolution to deliver the world's most advanced travel platform, which enables us to offer CWT faster innovation and more flexible solutions infused with data-driven insights."
In the technology vein, Amadeus' announcement also pointed to the fact that CWT recently joined Amadeus' new NDC-X program to connect—via the International Air Transport Association's New Distribution Capability standard—airlines and those that sell travel. And Sabre noted that CWT was a launch partner in Sabre's Beyond NDC program for end-to-end solutions to process NDC content and orders.
