PricewaterhouseCoopers US updated its lodging forecast this week, shifting 2015's expected average daily rate growth from 5.1 percent to 4.7 percent.
“Recent performance of the lodging industry has surprised industry participants, as solid ADR growth has struggled despite peak occupancy levels,” the forecast stated. Occupancy instead will continue to bolster growth of revenue per available room. In both 2015 and 2016, U.S. occupancy is predicted to be 65.6 percent, and RevPAR is forecast to grow 6.5 percent in 2015 and 5.7 percent in 2016. PwC updates its lodging forecast quarterly.
