WestJet's revenue increased 6.6 percent year over year in the fourth quarter to 1.2 billion Canadian dollars, in part driven by demand for the carrier's premium seating. Traffic rose 4.5 percent as capacity increased 5.9 percent, and load factor declined a percentage point to 81.6 percent. Yield dipped 2 percent. WestJet reported net earnings of 29.2 million Canadian dollars, down 39 percent. Fuel costs jumped 20.3 percent. For the full year, WestJet's net earnings were 91.5 million Canadian dollars, down from 279.1 million Canadian dollars in 2017.
