WestJet's revenue increased 3.8 percent year over year to $1.26 billion Canadian in the third quarter. Premium cabin revenue rose 18 percent as the carrier's new Boeing 787 aircraft have helped push fares upward. Premium economy fares on those aircraft averaged 15 percent higher than the equivalent cabin on Boeing 767 aircraft, president and CEO Ed Sims said. Traffic rose 8.6. percent year over year as capacity increased 9.9 percent, causing load factor to drop 1.1 percentage points to 84.6 percent. Yield declined 4.4 percent. WestJet reported net earnings of $45.9 million Canadian, down 66.3 percent from the third quarter of 2017. Fuel costs per liter rose 37.1 percent year over year.
