Virgin Atlantic Group, which includes Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays, reported a profit of £22.5 million for 2015, up £10.1 million compared with the previous year. The carrier's passenger load factor dropped 2.5 percentage points to 76.8 percent, largely because of increased capacity. Transatlantic capacity alone rose 14.8 percent. Low fuel costs helped reduce operating costs by £196 million, though they also caused £198 million in hedging losses and "led to a downward pressure on fares," according to Virgin Atlantic CFO Shai Weiss. Passenger revenue declined 2.9 percent in constant currency.
