United Airlines plans to end its relationship with one of its regional airline partners, either ExpressJet or CommutAir, as part of its plan to shrink operations, according to Reuters.
In a letter to ExpressJet pilots, their union leadership said they had been notified by United that it would using only one provider of Embraer SA E-145 aircraft, which both partners use, Reuters reported. United has investments in both companies.
In a statement, United said it could not offer further details but reiterated that it plans to be a smaller airline due to the Covid-19 pandemic. "That means we’ve cut our schedules and our costs across the operation, and we do anticipate it will continue to impact the relationships we have with our regional partners," according to the statement.
