U.S. carriers had an all-time-high annual load factor of 83.8 percent in 2015, up 0.4 percentage points year over year, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. On domestic flights, U.S. carriers had a record load factor of 85 percent, up 0.5 percentage points, although international load factor slipped 0.2 percentage points to 81 percent. U.S. carriers served 902.4 billion revenue passenger miles in 2015, up 4.6 percent from the previous record, set in 2014. Similarly, available seat miles on U.S. carriers rose 2.9 percent to 1.07 trillion, also a record.
