U.S. business travel growth reached its highest
level of the year in August but looks to remain somewhat flat during the next
three to six months, according to the U.S. Travel Association's August Travel
Trends Index. The TTI assigns a numeric score to each travel segment it
measures; any number above 50 indicates growth and any number below indicates a
decline. U.S. business travel scored a 52, besting June's 51.4 and July's 50
and surpassing the six-month average for the segment, 50.8. The association's
three- and six-month leading travel indices, however, score business travel at
50.1 and 50, respectively, due to uncertainty around issues like a potential
rise in interest rates.
