The number of domestic business travel trips outpaced
domestic leisure travel for the first time in more than a year during the month
of September, according to the U.S. Travel Association's most recent Travel
Trends Index. The report credits the shift of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to
October. The TTI assigns a numeric score to each travel segment it measures;
any number above 50 indicates expected growth, and any number below indicates a
decline. Looking ahead, U.S. business travel scored 50.3 for both the leading
three- and six-month indices, somewhat flat compared to domestic leisure travel's
51.3 and 51.1, thanks to continued uncertainty for the corporate segment.
