The Lufthansa Group's passenger revenue
increased 16.9 percent year over year to €9.3 billion in the second quarter.
Traffic increased 18.9 percent, and capacity was up 13.4 percent, pushing the
group's load factor up 3.8 percentage points to 81.3 percent. Some of that
growth owes to the fact that the group fully
acquired Brussels Airlines this year, but traffic increased across all world
regions. Overall however, fares decreased slightly. Lufthansa German Airlines revenue
increased 5.9 percent year over year for the first half of the year, and
traffic increased 4.9 percent. The Lufthansa Group reported a net profit of
€740 million, up from €437 million in the second quarter of 2016.
