Emirates' revenue for the 2015-2016 fiscal year
ending March 31 declined 3.3 percent year over year to 85 billion dirhams, or US$23.1
billion. Capacity by available seat kilometer increased 12.8 percent as
Emirates added a net 20 aircraft, increased service at 20 destinations and
added eight destinations, including Orlando, Istanbul and Bologna, Italy.
Passenger count increased 7.7 percent, and load factor declined 3.1 percentage
points to 76.5 percent. However, the dirham is tied to the U.S. dollar, and the
strength of the dollar against currencies in Emirates' major markets has cut
revenues, according to the carrier. Emirates' profit rose 50 percent year over
year to 8.2 billion dirhams, or US$2.2 billion.
