Egencia will expand its Savings Finder tool to the hotel sector, enabling the travel management company's corporate clients to automatically reshop and rebook hotel reservations if a lower rate is discovered for an identical room, the company announced.
Savings Finder has been available for air bookings since earlier this year. The company will begin rolling out the service for hotel bookings in a limited pilot this quarter, with a general release targeted for Q1 2020.
Savings Finder for Hotel will employ a similar approach to the air version, using machine learning technology to automatically track price variations and rebook the same room when available for a lower rate, without any action needed from the travel manager or traveler. The traveler then receives an email notification with the new price and the user's Egencia Trips page is updated with lower rate, cost and new supplier confirmation number. The traveler's itinerary and number remain the same. Travel managers can track savings derived from the service via Egencia's Analytics Studio data visualization platform, the company said.
