Despite a
rough start to August with a spate of cancellations and delays following a
power outage at its Atlanta headquarters, Delta Air Lines maintained an
above-average on-time arrival rate among North American carriers. It got 81.3
percent of flights to the gate within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival
time, according to FlightStats. That trailed only Alaska Airlines and WestJet. Alaska
was the most punctual major North American airline in August, with an 85.9
percent on-time arrival rate. On average, North American carriers had an
on-time arrival rate of 77.9 percent for the month.
