Delta's passenger revenue grew 6 percent year over year to $9.3 billion during the first quarter, including 8 percent year-over-year growth in corporate revenue. On domestic routes, corporate revenue rose 10 percent, boosted by strong demand and a 2 percent increase in average corporate fares, Delta president Glen Hauenstein said. Both corporate and premium revenue also increased on transatlantic routes, he said.
Delta's corporate travel outlook for the second quarter is at a record high for that period, Hauenstein said; 90 percent of the corporate customers Delta surveyed plan to maintain or increase spending levels during the quarter.
The carrier's traffic rose 4.8 percent year over year during the first quarter, and capacity jumped 5 percent. Load factor declined 0.2 percentage points to 82.7 percent, and yield increased 0.8 percent.
Delta reported a net income of $730 million for the quarter, up from $557 million in the first quarter of 2018.
