Alaska Airlines Increases Revenue, Capacity In Fourth Quarter
Alaska Airlines total passenger revenue increased 6 percent year over year to $1.2 billion during the fourth quarter. Traffic increased 11.6 percent, and capacity increased 12.9 percent, contributing to a 0.9-percentage-point decline in load factor to 82.5 percent. For the full year, the carrier increased capacity 10.6 percent, as Alaska added 20 markets to its network. Passenger revenue per available seat mile declined 6.6 percent, and yield declined 5.4 percent. Fourth-quarter net income increased 29 percent year over year to $191 million, and full-year 2015 income increased 40 percent to $848 million.
