AirPlus has promoted executive director of operations
Spencer Hanlon to managing director. He will co-manage the company with fellow
managing directors Roland Kern and Patrick Diemer, who also is chairman. In
German companies, a managing director is akin to a CEO, and it's common to have
more than one. Hanlon—who has worked for AirPlus for nearly 15 years in sales,
marketing and operations—will be responsible for operations and transformation,
primarily implementing what the payments company calls the "MasterPlan:
The enterprise-wide transformation of the AirPlus IT architecture and accompanying
transformation of the organization."
