Virgin Atlantic on Tuesday reported a profit of £14.4 million for 2014, compared with a loss of £51 million in 2013.
Prior to 2014, it had reported a loss for four of the five prior years, and 2014 results “mark the successful conclusion of our recovery period,” Virgin Atlantic chief executive Craig Kreeger said in a statement. The carrier’s reported profit did not include taxes and exceptional items. Virgin Atlantic’s airline unit revenue increased 0.5 percent year over year, and the carrier’s load factor for the year was 77.4 percent.
