United Airlines reported a $469 million second-quarter net profit, up from $339 million in the same period last year.

The carrier posted record second-quarter revenues of $10 billion, with unit passenger revenue up 1 percent. Total passenger revenue, however, declined 1.1 percent year over year as traffic dropped 1.7 percent and capacity fell 2.1 percent. The carrier's yield, a representation of fare per mile, grew 1 percent.
