Travelers Pick Hertz As Top In Plog Study

Hertz was selected as the favorite and most frequently used car rental company among 1,937 business travelers, who this year also slightly increased the quantity of car rental companies from which they rented, according to a study released yesterday by NFO Plog Research.

Budget and Enterprise followed Hertz in terms of actual usage within the business travel category. However, when asked to select their favorite car rental company, Enterprise and National took second and third place, respectively, after Hertz. Enterprise's favor slipped over 2001, when it tied with Hertz for travelers' favorite supplier.

The average number of business rentals remained steady over last year, but travelers said they used an average of 1.6 suppliers this year, as compared with 1.4 suppliers in 2001. "It could be that travel policies changed during the year, thus the shift," said NFO Plog Research executive vice president Scott Ludwigsen.
