The Lufthansa Group reported a €114 million profit for the first half of this year, compared with a €73 million profit during the first half of 2013.

Lufthansa's group passenger segment, which also includes Swiss and Austrian Airlines, posted a €96 million operating loss for the period, and the group's revenue declined 2.4 percent. Lufthansa noted a "severe impact" from an April pilot strike and pricing declines on both European and Asia/Pacific routes due to excess capacity. Airline group capacity increased 1.1 percent, and revenue per seat kilometer increased 1.1 percent, leaving the load factor flat year over year at 78.1 percent.
