JetBlue Airways' bid for 12 slot pairs at Reagan Washington National Airport made available as a condition of the American Airlines-US Airways merger has been "provisionally accepted"

by the U.S. Department of Justice, according to the airline. JetBlue indicated that if its bid is approved, it will add service to cities it currently does not serve from National. DOJ required American and US Airways to relinquish slots at National and New York LaGuardia (the latter since acquired by Southwest Airlines) in order to win approval for their merger. JetBlue also noted that American "agreed to a permanent transfer to JetBlue" of eight additional National slot pairs owned by AA that JetBlue has been using since 2010.
