Hertz previously had agreed
to sell its Advantage brand to Macquarie Capital and car rental firm operator Franchise Services of North America to help alleviate FTC concerns that its
$2.6 billion purchase of Dollar Thrifty imperiled car rental industry competition. Hertz has agreed to sell before the merger 16 Dollar Thrifty on-airport locations where Advantage does not yet operate to FSNA and Macquarie, according to FTC, and an additional 13 to FSNA and Macquarie or other parties after the merger. Hertz in a statement noted that it "hopes to be able to continue operating both the Dollar and Thrifty brands on airport at a number of these airports."
