Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet on Tuesday reported a net profit of C$90.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2014,
up 33.8 percent from the same period in 2013. Passenger revenues during the quarter increased 5.8 percent year over year to C$884.8 million. WestJet increased capacity 7.3 percent year over year during the quarter, and traffic increased 6.5 percent, leading to a load factor decline of 0.6 percentage points to 79.7 percent. Yield increased 0.7 percent. Revenue per available seat mile was flat year over year, and cost per available seat mile declined 3.5 percent. For the full year, WestJet's net income increased 5.7 percent year over year to C$284 million.
