Bankrupt AMR Corp., parent of American Airlines, posted a $105 million net loss for April.
Excluding reorganization expenses, the loss was $39 million, representing "a very strong improvement to our bottom line," according to a memo from CEO Tom Horton to employees. "And if current trends continue, we are well on our way to a strongly profitable second quarter." Total passenger revenue for April was $1.7 billion. Horton told employees that "we are now in the home stretch of our restructuring."
