Avis Budget Group reported a $28 million net loss for the three months ending Dec. 31,
compared with a $46 million loss for the prior-year period. Excluding special items, the company reported a $17 million profit for the "traditionally slower" fourth quarter. North American rental revenue rose 11 percent "primarily due to the acquisition of Zipcar and a 6 percent increase in volume." The company noted rental car pricing in North America "was essentially unchanged year over year."
