Amadeus for the March quarter reported higher revenue, earnings and distribution market share
thanks partly to a 2.9 percent year-over-year increase in agency air bookings to 119 million. Growth came from emerging markets as well as North America—where Amadeus recently implemented a major deal with Expedia—and would have been higher if not for two fewer working days in the quarter than a year earlier. Amadeus claimed a gain in its global share of agency air bookings of 1.6 percentage points year over year to 39.8 percent, and said overall GDS industry growth was sluggish. Profit in the quarter was 7.5 percent higher at €153 million (US$211 million), while operating income was up 5.1 percent. Amadeus' distribution revenue increased 2.4 percent to €612 million (US$784 million) while its airline IT business grew revenue by 9.8 percent to €183 million (US$234 million).
