Alaska Air Group on Thursday reported net income of $198 million for the third quarter of 2014,

compared with $289 million reported in the third quarter of 2013. Quarterly consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile declined 1.1 percent. Traffic was up 7.6 percent year over year during the quarter, and capacity increased 8.1 percent, resulting in a load factor decline of 0.5 percentage points to 86 percent. Yield declined 0.6 percent year over year.
