Air Canada added a $25 checked-bag fee for Tango fare domestic flights within Canada and on Mexico/Caribbean routes,

the carrier announced Thursday. The policy, effective Thursday, applies to travel booked on or after Nov. 2. Economy passengers with Flex and Latitude fares as well as passengers at or above Altitude Prestige or Star Alliance Silver levels will not be required to pay the fee. Air Canada already charges for checked bags on its U.S. routes. Air Canada noted the move was made "to align it with prevailing North American industry practices," and follows WestJet's announcement earlier this week that it was adding the fee to certain routes.
