Maritz Travel launched Maritz Travel Healthcare Solutions to
help pharmaceutical and medical device companies produce meetings. Maritz
Travel president Steve O'Malley told BTN
that for the past year, the company has "weaved together technologies into
a proprietary system" that automates both compliance and reporting for the
regulation-dense healthcare provider meetings sector.
As part of the new service, Maritz and compliance software
company Polaris developed a system that consolidates healthcare provider
expenses and event data into a report that planners can upload to their
companies' reporting systems.
Additionally, Pat Schaumann joined Maritz Travel
in a new role: senior director of compliance. Previously, she ran Meetings
Professionals International's Healthcare Meetings Compliance Certificate
program, and O'Malley said she's ushered more than 35 Maritz employees through
the HMCC process since joining Maritz in June. The plan is that "everybody
that touches a healthcare provider meeting is going to go through that
training," he said, including onsite event staffers. Meanwhile, Schaumann
will maintain a relationship with MPI, including as a guest lecturer for others
going through the certification, O'Malley said.
