Uber is adding safety features to its driver app
to encourage better driving habits. These include a speed display, reminders to
take breaks and daily reports tracking such metrics as harsh braking and rapid acceleration.
The app also now has motion-detection capabilities that alert drivers to leave
their mobile devices mounted on their dashboards rather than holding them while
driving. Uber will introduce the features to the app in 11 cities in the next
few weeks and plans to release the update more broadly later.
