Security technology developer Dice has released browser-based software that allows organizations to conduct two-way SMS communications with their travelers. Organizations can use the software, called Matrix SMS Check-In, to send mass texts to select travelers. The recipients can reply to the texts and engage in private conversations with their organizations. Third-party travel risk management providers ISOS, iJet and Concur Locate also provide two-way communication tools, but a Dice spokesperson said Dice also can integrate with alarm-monitoring software, whether Dice's or a third party's. "For instance, if the message originator sends a notification to a group staying at a hotel that a shooting has taken place, the recipient can text back that he or she is worried and hears gunshots," the spokesperson said. "That text message can then generate an alarm event. ... The operator receiving this alarm uses the information from the text to inform authorities and remain in contact with the recipient."
