Travel insurance supplier Allianz Global Assistance has launched a benefits program for U.S. travelers to make claims on flight delays. Allianz's SmartBenefits program monitors for qualifying delays—which are a minimum of three to five hours, depending on the insurance policy—and typically provides fixed payments of $100 per person per delay either by a traveler's provided debit card, by direct deposit or by mailed check. Allianz began offering SmartBenefits through its travel agency partners in late July.
