UK-based travel management network Advantage Travel
Partnership has signed on as a client of Thrust Carbon, a carbon emissions
assessment and offsetting startup. The partnership will enable Advantage Travel
members to "support their clients with… innovative solutions" to
calculate and mitigate carbon emissions from travel, according to a LinkedIn
post from Glenn Thorsen, director of partnerships for Thrust Carbon.
Thorsen said Advantage is the first client to sign on with
London-headquartered Thrust Carbon, which launched earlier this year. The
company offers products including a Thrust Calculator, which crunches
"hundreds" of data points to measures emissions for travel and other
business activities, presents emissions information via customizable reports and
offers suggestions on offsets that can be purchased to mitigate those
emissions. Meanwhile, the company's Thrust Widget product integrates into
booking tools to present emissions data and offset options within the booking
process.
While the Covid-19 pandemic has put a stop on nearly all corporate travel for
the time being, sustainability remains a major priority throughout the
industry—and many providers and buyers are viewing the current downturn as the
perfect time to implement innovative steps toward making travel greener.
Last month, American Express Global Business Travel's Neo
booking tool added
a new filter option to sort flight and rail options by carbon emissions
levels. TravelPerk
and Egencia
are among other booking and travel management providers that recently have
rolled out tools to help corporate travel clients track and offset emissions.
