Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has reduced by 40 percent the number of stays needed in 2020 to earn Wyndham Rewards elite status, the company announced. Program members now will attain Gold status after three qualifying 2020 stays, rather than the previously required five. Platinum level status qualification has been reduced from 15 to nine qualifying 2020 stays, while members need 24 qualifying 2020 stays rather than 40 for Diamond status. Only stays in 2020 will count toward the new requirements, including those from earlier this year, which will be retroactively applied. Members should see updated status levels reflected in their account June 30, the company said. The changes were made as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Wyndham. Previously, the company had extended the expiration of any previously earned member levels through the end of 2021 as well as had paused points expiration through Sept. 30, 2020.
