Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has completed its $1.95 billion acquisition of La Quinta Holdings' hotel franchise and management business. The deal, announced in January, adds more than 900 franchised properties, or almost 89,000 rooms, to the Wyndham portfolio. The La Quinta Returns loyalty brand, with its 15 million enrolled members, will merge in the coming months with Wyndham Rewards, which boasts 56 million enrolled members. At the time of the transaction's closing, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide. However, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts will become an independent public company after market closes today. Its portfolio consists of 20 hotel brands and almost 9,000 franchised hotels across 80 countries.
