By the middle of this year, the Global Hotel Alliance
network of independent hotels will bring Capella Hotels & Resorts and Solis
Hotels & Resorts into its family of more than 500 hotels across 30 brands. The
pair have properties in major business markets and resort locations around the
globe. Capella is set to open a hotel in Bangkok this year, and a property in
each the Maldives and Sydney are in its pipeline. Solis has a hotel in Nanjing,
China, plus two properties in Southeast Asia under development. "The
addition of Capella and Solis further enriches the choice for our 14 million-strong
Discovery [loyalty] membership, bringing new destinations and landmark hotels
to the alliance landscape," said GHA CEO Chris Hartley. At GHA hotels, revenue
from bookings made through the loyalty program increased 10 percent in 2018,
according to the company's full-year report.
