In the month before the beginning of the impact of Covid-19 on the U.S. hospitality industry, hotel performance had been positive, according to STR. February data show that occupancy was up 0.2 percent year over year to 62.2 percent. Average daily rate was up 1.4 percent to $130.78. Revenue per available room was up 1.7 percent to $81.33. As noted in the research company's past two weekly reports, however, those numbers will be down significantly for March.
