Hoteliers in North America are seeing positive results during the second quarter. Bookings are up 2.7 percent and average daily rate is up 2.5 percent, according to TravelClick. Group travel is playing a key role, as second-quarter group bookings are up 7.5 percent from this same time last year and group ADR is up 3.8 percent. Second-quarter business transient bookings are up 1.1 percent and business transient ADR is up 2.4 percent. "The start of 2018 has proven to be solid for hoteliers when it comes to both rates and bookings," said TravelClick senior industry analyst John Hach, "and the third quarter is slated to echo that sentiment, based on preliminary data." For the next 12 months, group bookings are up 1.2 percent and group ADR is up 3.1 percent. Business transient bookings are up 1.4 percent and ADR is up 2.6 percent. The April North American Hospitality Review looks at group sales commitments and individual reservations in the 25 major North American markets for hotel stays booked by April 1, 2018, for the period of April 2018 to March 2019.
