Commune Hotels & Resorts and Destination Hotels have merged. Combined, the two independent boutique hotel companies operate 92 properties in seven countries, and each fills a gap in the other’s portfolio. Commune provides largely urban-based properties in North America, Asia and Europe, and Destination offers mainly resort properties across the United States. The merger comes on the heels of AccorHotels' December
agreement to acquire FRHI Holdings and Marriott International's November announcement that it would
acquire Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
