Hospitality management companies Benchmark Hospitality International and Gemstone Hotels & Resorts have merged, forming a portfolio of 58 properties around the globe. Benchmark CEO Alex Cabañas said in a statement both companies share a focus on independent properties and that their organizational cultures and values align. Cabañas will serve as CEO of the new company, the branding of which has not yet been established. The company will be headquartered in Houston, where Benchmark is already headquartered, and will have satellite offices in Park City, Utah, where Gemstone is currently headquartered, and in Miami.
