Location and History
Overlooking Victoria's flower lined Inner Harbour stands Victoria's undisputed grande dame, a classic Edwardian chateau-style hotel dating from 1908 and lovingly called the "castle on the coast" by locals. Designed by Francis Rattenbury, who also built the nearby legislative buildings, it was designed to be the terminus hotel for Canadian Pacific's steam ship passengers.
