Location and History
Sitting atop a panoramic bluff surveying the Coachella valley and surrounding desert peaks, near the relatively plebian Westin Mission Hills, a 20-minute drive to town, Sherman's Deli and the convention center, this was originally an honest-to-goodness Ritz-Carlton (pre-Marriott), then for a short while it operated as the Lodge at Rancho Mirage. After struggling as a pseudo-deluxe independent, the owners decided to replant the R-C banner, never looking back.
