Omni Enables Hotel Checkin Via Mobile Devices
Omni Hotels today launched a Web site that, in what it claims is an industry first, allows guests to check in through Web-enabled, mobile devices at every Omni hotel.
The new site, powered by Usablenet Mobile, lets travelers access hotel information, make reservations and review special offers through mobile devices. The checkin function allows them to have their keys waiting for them upon arrival.
"Our goal was to give travelers the means to check in to the hotel while on the go, obtain maps and get directions to the hotel," Omni e-commerce director Kerry Kennedy said in a statement. "Today, these are becoming necessities for the busy business traveler."
The technology platform for the site detects the type of mobile device used and adapts accordingly to best fit that device, according to Omni. In the next few months, the hotel plans to enhance the site further with capabilities for guests to get information about amenities and make such services requests as housekeeping, valet service, baggage retrieval and room service.
