InterContinental Hotels Group announced the development of an upscale hotel brand specifically targeting Chinese travelers.

IHG currently is converting 20 letters of intent into contracts and expects to open the first Hualuxe Hotels and Resorts property in late 2013 or early 2014, with plans for properties in more than 100 Chinese cities within the next few decades as well as other major cities outside of China. The hotels will feature amenities and designs specific to Chinese culture, including teahouses, lobby gardens and late-night noodle bars.
